The Death of Expectation

The night swept us away
On a velvet sea of love,
The music fluttered,
Softly about like a moth,
And some magical moments
Were stolen in a kiss,
Until harsh reality
Came knocking along by.

The words swept us away
On a silken bank of trust,
The feelings fluttered
Softly about in the heart,
And some delicious moments
Were stolen in time,
Until harsh reality
Came knocking along by.

And there wasn’t much to go by
There wasn’t much to feel,
But the moth burnt away in the night,
Its wings, unable to heal.
